Plantation Farm Stud is a specialist breeding and foaling centre for thoroughbred and sport-horse broodmares; owned and managed by Kate Bandey MRCVS, a veterinary surgeon, and her husband Richard.

We are a small, bespoke stud offering a unique service by having an onsite veterinary surgeon. We take mares for temporary and permanent broodmare boarding livery, and we offer competitively priced, all-inclusive stud packages for natural cover, artificial insemination and embryo transfer. We pride ourselves in being able to achieve high conception rates by the individual attention we give each mare.

“Kate and Richard have what we consider  to be the perfect covering, foaling and early life set up at Plantation Farm, one that we have used for 3 years. Kate manages to get potentially difficult mares in foal, while Richard will travel considerable distances to walk them in. The boxes are spacious, the turn out is good; close at hand and easy to supervise… but the unique selling point is having an excellent vet, living on site within a minutes walk, to handle any problem or emergency before, during, or after foaling. We love the newly born photos and report, sent by internet or text, soon after birth. Communication is always excellent and we are made very welcome whenever we visit.” Neil and Jane Maltby
